Est. 2026 · Adult Ballet Journal

Ballet, begun again.

A journal for adults who came to ballet late. Honest technique notes, real struggles, and the point of view of a classmate or a study-buddy.

Why this space exists

Most ballet content is made for children, or for professionals. Barely any of it is made for us.

I had the once-in-a-life opportunity between 2023 – 2026 to be trained through the Vaganova classical ballet syllabus, Grade 1 through Grade 8 — as an adult, alongside of my full-time job.

I decided to start this blog to record what I have learned, what I have struggled or still struggle,. Or where the typical late learner stumble upon, at what time, what kind of stuff.

Whether you have just started ballet, have been learning for years or re-started, you still figure out your own turnout, struggle with many techniques or you are contemplating whether starting pointe shoes as adults were good idea or not,  you have come to the right place.

Struggles

Adult Ballerina Struggles

The level-finding, the comparing yourself to 12-year-olds, the recital nerves — said out loud.
Technique

Technique & Tips

Pirouettes, fouettés, petit allegro, turnout — drills that actually moved the needle for me.
Reviews

Try It With Me

Turning boards, resistance bands, that ballet app everyone recommends — tested honestly.
Curious

Ballet Curiosities

What dancers eat, what’s really in their shoe, backstage things nobody explains.
Personal

My Journey

Studio auditions, shoe fittings, building a barre at home — the unglamorous middle part.
